Ruey Leng Loo
Murdoch University Australia
Associate Professor Ruey Leng Loo has worked in both academic and national health services. She is currently based at the Australian National Phenome Centre (ANPC) within the Health Futures Research Institute at Murdoch University. With over ten years of experience, she has applied metabolomics to epidemiological and intervention studies to uncover why some individuals are more susceptible to cardiovascular disease while others remain disease-free. To achieve this, she utilises various analytical platforms, such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, coupled with mathematical modeling to understand the patterns of metabolic fingerprints from different populations. More recently, she has extended her work to apply metabolomics to evaluate the nutritional quality of various foods and produce, and to assess its downstream impact on human health. Associate Professor Loo has secured > AUD 5M of research income from research councils, governmental and philanthropic agencies. She has published in top-tier journals and has received several awards for her contributions to the field.
