Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research, Poland
Małgorzata Starowicz works on the position of Assistant Professor in the Division of Food Sciences of IAR&FR, where she is a leader of research group Chemistry and Biodynamics of Food. Her scientific activity covers the topic of the determination of compounds with specific antioxidant and/ or anti-diabetic, anti-glycation properties. The research material is mostly raw plant-based samples and food products (i.e. functional food) elaborated from grains, pseudo-cereals, fruits and vegetables after technological processes (high temperaturetreatment, fermentation etc.). Moreover, she studies the correlation between the content of volatilized molecules with the sensorial products’ characteristics, and the level of products acceptance by consumers. She is a coordinator/ main contributor of research grants and projects with industry. She gained her research experience during short and long-term research visits in NPPC Food Research Institute (Bratislava, Slovakia), Northumbria University (Newcastel-upon-Tyne, Great Britain), TUM (Freising, Germany), UniversitadegliStudi di Palermo (Palermo, Italy), and J.J. Strossmayer University of Osijek (Osijek, Croatia). She is a member of the Polish Chemical Society and the Polish Food Technologists’ Society, and delegate of Poland in the Food Chemistry Division of EuChemS.
