Anne C. Alcantara is a Science Research Specialist at the Packaging Safety Laboratory (PSL) under the Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) in the Philippines. She is deeply involved in chemical research and testing of food contact materials, focusing on safety assessments and method validation.Her recent work includes studies on phthalates in food packaging materials like polyethylene and polypropylene, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in paper-based packaging, and the migration of UV-absorbing contaminants from plastics to food simulants. She also contributes to laboratory accreditation efforts and the development of analytical techniques. With a strong foundation in analytical chemistry and project management, she plays a pivotal role in advancing packaging safety research in the Philippines.
